Bicycle Maintenance classes - Level 1 (Roadside Repair)
Pedal Lincolnshire are offering a level one ‘Roadside Repair’ 1-day bicycle maintenance course that covers roadside emergency bicycle repairs and maintenance, that can be completed without the need of using a professional cycle workshop, either at home or when out riding, using just a few basic tools. The aim is to help each rider get more from their bike and become more self-sufficient and give them the confidence to ride further afield with less worry about becoming stranded..
It is meant as a starting point for those unfamiliar with cycle repair to gain the confidence to be able to tackle basic emergency repair jobs at the side of the road, learn some new skills, pick up tips and also learn which jobs would be better performed by a qualified cycle mechanic.
It also allows those attending an opportunity to handle and use a number of key tools and to learn which works best with their bike and what ideally should be carried in their emergency tool caddy.
Bicycle Maintenance classes - Level 2 (Ride Leader)
Pedal Lincolnshire are offering a level-two (Ride Leader) 1-day bicycle maintenance course for those that have completed the ‘level 1’ introductory course. This more advanced course covers areas of bicycle repair and maintenance that can be completed without the need of using a professional cycle workshop, both at home and when out riding, using basic tools and a few additional items. The aim is to help experienced club cyclists (and keen individuals) get more from their cycling and become more self-sufficient whilst being able to act as a ‘Ride Leader’ with the ability to assist others and offer advice as well.
It is a natural progression for those more familiar with cycle repair to learn new skills so to be able to tackle more advanced jobs, and pick up tips and knowledge and also learn which jobs would be better performed by a qualified cycle mechanic.
It also allows those attending a better understanding of the terminology, trouble shooting, set-up and adjustment of a bicycle, what parts are most likely to need regular replacement and how to care for the bicycle for optimal performance and reliable cycling.
