Chile - Patagonia Lakes and Peaks Trek

A fourteen-day South American adventure covering the highlights of Patagonia.

The expedition will complete the 'Torres del Paine' 'W' Trek in Chilean Patagonia, and then visit the Moreno Glacier and trek to the base of the towers of 'Monte Fitzroy' 3405m. 

The Adventure begins with a long flight from London to Punta Arenas in Chilean Patagonia, via Madrid and Buenos Aires in Argentina. We will then spend 4 days trekking the classic 'W' trail in the 'Torres del Paine' National park. 

The park is an International Biosphere Reserve, recognized by UNESCO in 1978. It is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and un-spoilt remote places left on our planet. We will visit the impressive granite spires of the Towers of Paine, and also witness the stunning glaciers that reach into Lake Grey.

Following on from our 4-day trek we will visit the spectacular Moreno Glacier in the 'Los Glaciares' National Park before re-locating to El Chalten for a day trek to the base of the remote Fitzroy massive where we will see the soaring granite towers of Monte Fitzroy 3405m. We will then travel back to Buenos Aires where we will have two days to see the amazing sights in one of South Americas most historic and visually stunning vibrant cities before returning back to the UK.

Typical Itinerary

• Day 1 – Fly to Buenos Aires.
• Day 2 – Land at Buenos Aires and overnight in City.
• Day 3 – Fly to Punta Arenas and coach to Puerto Natales visiting the Magellan Penguin sanctuary on route.
• Day 4 – Drive to park entrance and trek to Refuge Chilenos.
• Day 5 – Trek to see the Towers of Paine and overnight in Refugio Los Cuernos.
• Day 6 – Trek along the scenic French Valley to the Refuge Paine Grande.
• Day 7 – Trek to Glacier Grey and back to Refugio 'Paine Grande' for a Catamaran crossing across 'Lago Pehoé' and a transfer by bus to Puerto Natales.
• Day 8 – Travel to El Calafate town to visit the Perito Moreno Glacier in the 'Los Glaciares' National Park, and overnight there.
• Day 9 – Morning in El Calafate town followed by an afternoon drive to El Chalten.
• Day 10 – We will trek to Laguna Torre where we will find an impressive view of the Torre massif, the Adela range, Mount Solo and their respective glaciers, including the Impressive Tower of Fitzroy itself.
• Day 11 – We will travel back to Punta Arenas and catch an afternoon flight back to Buenos Aires.
• Day 12 – Sightseeing in Buenos Aires.
• Day 13 – Depart Buenos Aires.
• Day 14 – Arrive United Kingdom.

Accommodation

Accommodation will be in hotels and Park lodges throughout the trip, sleeping bags will be required.

Equipment

A complete clothing and equipment list will be provided on booking.

Transport

Transport from Punta Arenas and during the trek will be by private minibus, taxis will be used elsewhere.
