Lincoln to Boston, Water Rail Challenge
Join Imp Adventures on a fantastic cycle ride through the Lincolnshire countryside whilst raising money for the veterans charity ‘Help for Heroes’.
The ‘Water Rail’ is a 33 mile stretch of the National Cycle Network that follows the course of the river Witham from Lincoln to Boston. featuring vast open fenland landscapes, with long views and expansive skies. To the North stands Lincoln cathedral and to the South St Botolph's church (the ‘Stump'), which on a clear day can be seen from many miles.
The water Rail is a purpose built cycle trail that can be split into convenient sections or cycled in its entirety. Our challenge will cycle the entire route starting at Lincoln Cathedral and finishing at Boston Stump. The route follows good paths and quiet country lanes that can be cycled by anyone with average fitness on any style of bike, with little requirement for route finding or advanced cycling skills and fitness.

Itinerary
- 0800 hrs Registration and safety briefing at Lincoln Cathedral start point
- Leg 1 – Lincoln to Bardney (9 miles) first check point at Bardney railway tea rooms
- Leg 2 – Bardney to Kirkstead Bridge - Woodhall (7 miles) second check point at Kirkstead Bridge
- Leg 3 – Kirkstead Bridge to Langrick Bridge (12 miles) third checkpoint at Langrick Bridge
- Leg 4 – Langrick Bridge to Boston Stump (5 miles) finishing outside St Botolph’s Church in the centre of Boston
- Return transport to Lincoln Cathedral
Whats Included
- Professional Leadership by an experienced and competent Cycle Leader whom is a current first aider.
- Dedicated support vehicle and drivers throughout the challenge, including check point marshals on route and at start and end of trail.
- Hydration stops on route x 3 (in addition to the numerous cafes, and other refreshment facilities on route)
- Cycles and participants returned to Lincoln Cathedral at end of challenge
- Limited cycle repair and mechanical assistance on call

- Transport to Lincoln at start of challenge and from Lincoln on completion of challenge
- Meals on route (less hydration stops)
- Clothing, Cycles and associated cycling equipment (helmets must be worn by all participants)
- Personal accident and belongings insurance

Equipment
A complete clothing and equipment list will be sent out on booking.
Transport
Participants are to make their own way to Lincoln Cathedral main entrance at the start of the challenge.
A support vehicle will transport cyclists and cycles back to Lincoln Cathedral at the end of the challenge, and will be on call throughout the challenge in case of unforeseen premature withdrawl from the challenge. This will also act as a safety vehicle throughout.
Notes
Participants are to ensure that they are in possession of a road legal cycle suitable for cycling the challenge comfortably. Any specialist cycle repair items should be brought as well as normal consumable items including snacks and drinks, waterproofs and a suitable cycle helmet.
