Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Despite its obvious popularity Kilimanjaro still demands the utmost respect, and at 5895m high it is a serious high altitude objective and should never be underestimated.
Kilimanjaro Summit Trek
Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa and the worlds highest free-standing mountain at 5895m (19,341ft). It lies 205 miles south of the equator and stands on Tanzanias northern border with Kenya. Kilimajaro is composed of 3 extinct volcanoes: Kibo (19,340 feet), Mawenzi (16,896 feet), and Shira (13,000 feet), supporting 5 major eco-zones: rainforest, heath, moorland, alpine desert and glaciers.
Machame Route - This beautiful 6 day trek approaches Kilimanjaro from the southern side. Starting in the dense and tropical rainforest, we take in s some of the mountains best features including the Shira Plateau, the Barranco Wall and the Karanga Valley before making our final ascent from Barafu Camp. This is a tough but spectacularly rewarding route with stunning views, and offers the best possible chance of summit success

Itinerary
Day 01 - Depart UK
Day 02 - Arrive Moshi
Accommodation: Quality Safari Lodge / Hotel with swimming pool
Meal Plan: Full Board
On Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport we will be picked up and transfered to our hotel were we will freshen up before having lunch and a full expedition brief.
Day 03 - Machame Camp - 3000m 5-6 hrs trekking
Accommodation: Shared 2-person tents
Meal Plan: Full Board
After a good breakfast we make the short road transfer to the Machame Gate and the start of our adventure.
We start our trek walking slowly through the lush vegetation of the rain forest where we will witness the abundance of florna and flora including the endemic flower of Kili - 'Impatiens Kilimanjaro', In the afternoon we will reach our first campsite and enjoy a hot dinner before settling down to our first night under canvas.
Day 04 - Shira Camp 3840m 6-7 hrs trekking
Accommodation: Shared 2-person tents
Meal Plan: Full Board This morning the route takes us through ever changing scenery as there is a steep ascent up through heather and moorland to the Shira Plateau. We continue across the plateau to our camp for the evening to relax and enjoy the fabulous views.
Day 05 - Barranco Camp 3950m 6-7hrs trekking
Accommodation: Shared 2-person tents
Meal Plan: Full Board
Trekking east across beautiful barren moonlike landscape, reaching the Lava
Tower, with a stop for lunch, then descend through the surrounding ravines to our camp by late afternoon. The descent aids the acclimatisation process and allows our bodies to adjust to the ever changing altitude.
Day 06 - Barafu Camp 4600m 6-7 hrs trekking
Accommodation: Shared 2-person tents
Meal Plan: Full Board Leaving camp early for a short climb and scramble over the volcanic rock to the Barranco Wall. From here we have fantastic views over to Barafu. For the rest of the day we make the steady climb to our camp positioned on a ridge overlooking the south east valley.
Day 07 - Summit Day 5895m 12-13hrs trekking
Accommodation: Sharing 2-person tents
Meal Plan: Full Board
Awaking just before midnight to a quick breakfast and summit chat,we start the slow and extremely cold climb by torchlight to the roof of Africa.
After approx 6hrs of slow and difficult trekking we eventually reach the key destination of 'Stella Point' on the summit crater. From here it is just a short and easy walk to the summit structure at 5895m.
After taking our victory pictures we will make the tiring 3 hour descent back to Barafu Camp for a brief rest and taste of brunch before continuing down the mountain for 2 hours to Millenium Camp and the thicker air for a well deserved nights rest.
Day 08 - Moshi 5-6hrs trekking
Accommodation: Quality Hotel Accommodation with pool
Meal Plan: Full board After breakfast we conduct the customary tipping ceremony and say farewell to our support team and to Kilimanjaro before setting off on the 4-hour trek back down the mountain to the Mweka Gate and the park exit. On arrival back at Moshi we will enjoy a buffet lunch at a local bar before enjoying a long cleansing shower and an opportunity to relax by the pool before dressing up for the celebration meal and awards ceremony in the evening. This is usually followed by a late disco.
Day 09 - A free day in Moshi
Accommodation: n/a
Meal Plan: breakfast Today will be a free day in Moshi with time to buy souvenirs and gifts etc before relaxing for a few hours by the pool before the evening flight back to the uk
Day 10 - Arrive back in UK

Other Information
A 15kg weight restriction in soft baggage is applicable for all internal flights.
